Gok Wan Visits Moo!

All of us at Moo were thrilled to hear that Gok was coming to film his series ‘Gok’s Fashion Fix’ in Barnsley. As a token of our appreciation we decided that we would specially design and create Gok a Moo manbag in our workshop in the Lucorum.

By Friday the bag was completed and we were busy trimming the shop with ‘Gok Bunting’ and posters on our swing board outside. We wanted to make a real effort as Gok himself loves attention to detail and we wanted him to see the town in a positive light and show that Barnsley has a lot to offer.

Saturday arrived and was bright and sunny to suit the mood. Hundreds were queuing outside the Civic and the excitement was building as all of us were hoping to catch a glimpse of the style icon.

We were really busy in the shop and we thought we might get a chance to go to the Civic to present Gok with his Moo bag but we certainly never expected what was about to unfold! About lunchtime one of the Gok team, who had visited the shop the day before came and asked if it would be OK if he came and has a look around the shop himself. In no time at all Gok arrived in the boutique admiring lots of pieces and commenting how every town should have a shop like Moo! It was beyond our wildest dreams!!

When it got to presenting his bag i was very nervous but also proud of what we had achieved, especially when he was full of praise and immediately put the bag on and we were amazed when it actually matched the colour of the tan belt he was wearing. As he was leaving he asked if he could take one of our ‘Moo welcomes Gok’ posters for his mum which we thought was really sweet.

The rest of the day was a real blur and then later in the afternoon we heard a crowd had gathered outside to see Gok off and as we stood as the back he was getting in the car he lifted his Moo Designs carrier bag up (complete with poster) and called out to say thank you he loved his bag. We were all shocked. Monday morning arrived with an email from his team with more complements and positive comments.
